Nomadism and inheritance

In this paper I wanted to explore how the dynamics of the journey change the relationship we have to our heritage, whether they reinforce or weaken our claim on it, what are the
responsibilities we have towards what was left for us, the spirit with which it was
granted, the spirit with which we receive it and how these dynamics play out in my
work.

  1. Artist statement; wat is je specialisme, wat maakt jouw werk uniek?

    The subjects of my are mostly autobiographical. In order to tell my story I rely on facts, symbols and suggestions that are often not immediately accessible to the public.
    To offer some foothold, the images are often built on references to traditional symbols, inside jokes, modern day archetypes, pop influences, sayings, comics, t-shirt designs, video games, book covers, politics, half baked philosophy, movies, rock and hip-hop, reinterpretation of famous stories and characters.

    Blending my personal experience to elements of shared knowledge helps me to create a conversation, rather than a monologue, encouraging the viewer to take a similar step.

  2. Wat zijn je ambities? Wat wil je over vijf jaar bereikt hebben?

    Five years is a long time. In the best case scenario I will have already completed the Rijksakademie and went through a few international residencies, ready to go back to Sardinia in order to help develop its local art scene.

    An idea doesn't have to die with a finished work. It can be allowed to branch into infinite territories and keep showing new unexpected angles, potentially forever.
